Our machines not only offer optimal flexibility due to their modular construction, e.g., through easy expansion options, but their flexibility goes far beyond that.
Especially in optical fiber ribbon production, our machines enable an extraordinary variety of products. Thanks to the precise control of bonding parameters, a wide range of configurations can be realized:
Variable bonding lengths and bonding interruptions:
- The length of the bonds and the targeted bonding interruptions can be freely defined.
- Each bonding path runs between two adjacent optical fibers and can be individually configured. For example, some bonding paths may be continuous without interruptions, while others may be interrupted at regular intervals.
- Within a bonding section, bonds can also be arranged in a staggered pattern and/or interrupted at short intervals across the entire width (e.g., a chessboard pattern).
- Patterns can be repeated periodically and combined with other patterns.
- For instance, two or more adjacent optical fibers (typically 2-24 fibers) can be bonded across their full width over a length of 10 mm, followed by a 15 mm bonding interruption.
- In another example, bonding can occur over a length of 3 mm, followed by a 3 mm interruption. This narrow pattern is repeated five times, followed by a 20 mm bonding interruption before the pattern starts again.
Customized bonding design:
- Different geometries such as trapezoidal, rectangular, or custom shapes are possible.
- The initial and final shapes of the bonds can be specifically adapted (e.g., curved, diagonal, or straight).
Various connection possibilities:
- All adjacent optical fibers (with or without spacing in between) can be continuously bonded between the individual fibers.
- All adjacent optical fibers (with or without spacing in between) can be completely coated/bonded across the entire width.
Different bonding materials:
- Depending on requirements, adhesives can be used that either permanently adhere or can be removed from the optical fibers.
- Bonds can be realized in different colors, transparent, or fluorescent. For example, UV-curable adhesives can be used for this purpose.
Our technology enables the high-precision and application-specific design of optical fiber ribbons to optimally meet individual requirements.
